Most likely a Common Flatwing, but some key distinguishing marks are not visible, and the blue colouration is very odd.

sorry Harvey- no idea why this happens sometimes - photo loads then doesn't get saved. have now added photo - pretty yellow dragonfly which took off up the hill before I could get any other shots. sandra

This looks like a mudeye, a dragonfly larvae. I think this is correct as on the map the sighting is in a dam, or possibly coming out of a dam.

Another very large dragonfly - great sighting! A male - good view of the petal-shaped appendages at the tip of the abdomen. This male's wingspan (usual measurement for size of dragonflies) could be close to 110mm!
