It was actually the end of a yawn, I missed the best part of it unfortunately. As much as I think they are beautiful, I have a lot of respect for these critters and only ever use my telephoto lense so I can stay a safe distance away. :)

Approx 7 or 8 feet-ish away with a 200mm lense and then cropped in Photoshop. This one was sunning itself on the bank of a 'pond'. It must sun here regularly or some other creature had tramped down an area of grass right at the edge of the pond, which gave me a nice clear shot. :) I always approach any animal I am photographing with extreme care not to cause any distress. I have worked as a carer for wildlife in my past, am a qualified Vet nurse and wish to reassure everyone, I take great care not to disturb them in their natural habitats.
