This species is so easily mistaken for an Amanita - having white, free, lamellae (gills), annulus (ring), growing in soil and ornamentation on the surface of the cap. Though this species tends to grow in pastures/grassy areas, is large, tends to present as a group. It tends to be very white, sometimes with a blush of pale brown on the central umbo (bump) of the cap, with drumstick like structure when immature, the annulus is moveable. When you become familiar with it you will just know it as it is taller and more elegant than most Amanitas!!
