Laetiporus sulphureus is a strong possibility but I am not entirely sure, so await your response Pam, thank you.
This was found on an old dead log which has been down for more than 25 years that I know of. This species appears annually in three different localities within this forest.

Not enough detail to be able to confirm. Did the undersurface have pores or was it smooth? What colour was the undersurface?
