Two fungi, largest approx. 10 cms in diameter around 4 cms thick.

Great images of this Agaricus sp.. Even though these specimens have been slightly impacted by the moist conditions in that the cap (pileus) surface has been washed clean of any ornamentation. You have been able to capture a great spore print on the lower specimen, you can even see the lines of the gills from the specimen above on it. This spore print is the typical colour for this genus. You can see the mature spore colour in the colour of the gills. When this genus is immature the gills are a lot lighter in colour with a slight pinkish hue. This is a saprotrophic fungus, that is it is decomposing dead organic material in the its substrate, most probably dead grass.
