Plants looks like H decurrens but the fruit it more mottled than we are used to seeing

I don't think H.decurrens occurs this far north, Hakea sericea is very similar but the juvenile leaves lack red stems, the pod are also bigger.

Sounds good, that would have been our other suggestion. However our H. sericea ( in garden) don't have such mottled fruit
