There are a number of small Lipotriches species. The species L. phanerura can be identified by orange tegulae above the wing bases and orange at the end of the abdomen, but several other species have brown tegulae and no orange at the end of the abdomen. At present, nobody is sure how to distnguish these other species or which names they should have.

Thanks Michael, I missed getting a photo of the end of the abdomen, I have only noticed phanerura so far.

There are at least two small Lipotriches species in the Sydney area. One has brown tegulae and no red on the abdomen.
