There’s an interesting phenomenon here with the pattern on the caterpillar’s body. Close inspection of the images appears to show that they are slightly out of focus including the underside image. However, details in following sighting 4532894 show this is not the case. The pattern itself is such as to provide the body with an out-of-focus appearance.
