These grass trees were all on a similar north facing slope, there were an abundance of red iron barks in the area, much more that on the nearby south facing slope where box trees predominated. This indicated two distinct soil types to my farmers eye. There had been no burning of this general area for some time as indicated by the dead leaves on the grass tree, and also from the litter load in the general area.

This locality will be too far north of X. australis natural distribution in Victoria.
