I think this is Cyperus gracilis from the shape of the spikelet and the proliferation from the inflorescence. However, there are closely related spp. that could also be in that area, e.g. C. mirus. Looking at the glume shape and the fruit shape is necessary to be sure of the ID in this group of little sedges.

Thanks Karen. I will try to get the glume and fruit shape the next time I’m in Kangaroo Valley.
