User's notes

A significant section of low drainage area covered in large hummocks of Sphagnum. All other States and Territories of Australia have Sphagnum peatland as protected areas under the EPBC as it is a threatened and important ecological community. But in TAS Sphagnum is not provided the same protection and can be actively harvested for horticultural purposes. The Sphagnum peatland here is soon going to be destroyed as part of a forestry operation.
