Did you happen to check for spots?

Yes, MattM. Images 2 and 3 are of one that had fallen to the ground because of a bent stem. One of the spent flowers was opened and it had spots. I was surprised to see these sun orchids - seems quite early to me.

Oops - sorry, images 3 & 4!

A lot of orchids have started flowering early this year, likely the result of a warm winter followed by an early spring.

Thanks, MattM. I'll have to be more alert for orchids now!
