If you fear spiders - look away now! I could hear crackling leaves so I looked quickly in case it was a snake - nope - it was this spider on the ground devouring what looks like a really unusual grasshopper-thing. The spider was quite chunky and if hadn't been busy feeding I think I may have moved away quickly.

Of course! This one is a relatively easy one to ID due to the "union jack" on the cephalothorax (head). Gorgeous looking spiders they are

Yeah its a beautiful pattern, though the legs are quite chunky!
