There was a group of these wattles altogether under gums. I looked twice and then went three feet off the track to check them out. On the older branches the leaflets were spaced far apart. It looked really odd. Not seen these wattles before. Had very few seed pods left on them.

It is Acacia deanei, I don't know which subsp occurs naturally in your region though
