User's notes

I was surprised to see that Lichen would grow on such an unstable substance as sand, but here it is (photo 5). These photos were taken just after days of rain, and there’s still moisture around. Photos 1 & 2 show some Lichen with, what I suspect are, fruiting bodies, (not including the snail!) There are similar fawn coloured ‘cup & ball’ structures in photo 3. I don’t know if the brown hairy structures in photo 3 are part of this lichen or another life form entirely. ?Comments anyone? Photo 4 is of Lichen that is a bit more exposed and shows the variation in colours. I imagine this may reflect older parts of the overall spread. There is also a much smaller grey-green coloured Lichen, (eg the bits of wood at the bottom), which I will deal with as a separate sighting. Photo 5 is for context.
