User's notes

Known to me as a ‘Horse fly’, this large long brown insect has clear wings which fold down the length of its body at rest. It has large brown compound eyes and appears to have a light-coloured furry surface to its under-thorax. The legs appear to have spines, and have a mix of colours – black-brown and tan, with dark ‘feet’. The abdomen, which appears to be pale underneath, seems to end in a dark coloured, long and narrow ‘tube’.
