User's notes

In past years we've only seen 2 Bogong moths outside our house. This season is more exciting! The first moth arrived on 28.09.2026 and sheltered under the lip of the lid on the organics (green) bin. For the next 2 mornings only a few were here, then on 1 Oct the number of moths jumped to at least 15. Some were sheltered in outside window corners, and a few were inside the garage. About midday the day became mostly overcast, and moths were frantically feeding at the banksia and grevillea in our yard. The numbers have dwindled to a few by 3 Oct.

Thanks @ibaird for verifying the ID and for your comment. What an amazing season for Bogong moth migration! After uploading the images here, I added a sighting to the Moth Tracker for Zoos Victoria.
