The best matches for your sighting I have found so far are species in the Calicotis (genus). Moths that apparently are known as Leather-leaf Spore-eaters (Stathmopodidadae subfamily Cuprinae Feather-legged Moths) which feed on species of ferns. For example Calicotos crucifera:- https://bie.ala.org.au/species/https://biodiversity.org.au/afd/taxa/2b946202-dfbd-43a4-84f5-6b4bca59ded8#gallery https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/386965-Calicotis-crucifera/browse_photos Your sighting is unusual because it shows an excellent side view of the forewing, However that pattern I have been unable to match to other Calicotis sightings online at either BOLD (Hobern), the ALA or on iNaturalist. Naturalist shows photos of four Australian species. I therefore am going to tentatively suggest your sighting is a Calicotis (genus) species.
