The seed case fits, but the leaves are extremely aberrant. The edges usually have shallow angled lobes. Deb, if you cannot find a name in the list you first try, try a different list. This plant is on the Other Wildflower list because it is not woody, which shrubs are. In future, could you provide an in focus photo of the green seedcase as well. In this case it did not matter. In other cases we might have to check for hairiness.

Hi Betty/Don ... thank you for the feedback ... I am sorry I meant to add that I had pulled the plant and put it in a pile to burn ... the leaves are from other weeds I pulled ... I believe the leaves are inkweed. Thank you for the tip on finding them in a different list! Yes in future I will try to get better pictures and preferably in situ. We have a public access road through our property and the council bare wastes the verges regularly/infrequently. Unfortunately we then get a number of nasty weeds coming through (which makes me think that they are in abundance not too far from us anyway) ... eg the Datura, the Tropical Soda Apple (one of the solarnum), etc etc ... I am hoping this site can do a similar job to the Canberra one in tracking nasty weeds

My user name is confusing. Don did the photos on the ALCW site. I do the monitoring. Betty

Hi Betty - thanks for the clarification
Hi Jackie - see separate post re solarnum prinophyllum ... from web photos it is hard for me to tell the difference between that and tropical soda apple
Finally ... I have some other photos of datura that I took a few months ago in a different place on our property (with a flower) ... do I start a new thread, or do I add it to this thread?
(I go tomorrow to training in Bega, perhaps my questions will be answered there)
Many thanks
Deb
