User's notes

We're tossing up as to whether this female flycatcher is a Leaden or a Satin. This is often a problem with these two species. I went for Leaden as the Rufus chest colour seems to fade a little towards the top, near the colour boundary.

Steph, this bird looks like a female Leaden FC to me for the reasons you have outlined. If it helps with confirming the identification I got a good view of a male Leaden FC on our block in January last year. Pity I did not have my camera at the time. I have not yet seen a Satin FC on our block. Andrew

Nice to hear from you, Andrew! Yes it seems like Leaden is the conservative ID. The only other flycatcher we've had was a Restless, but they're not really in contention in this case. Hope to see you both back at Black Range soon.
