Hi Nige,
this was most definitely a Fan-tailed Cuckoo - it made endless descending calls and also made its secondary call a number of times. There were two of them calling to each other. Apologies for the quality of the photos!

Sorry, yes I agree it is a Fan-tailed Cuckoo.
