Very common on the North Coast NSW, Ragweed is a prolific (photo 4) and vigorous grower, to 3m tall (photo 4). However it can flower and produce seed in March-April even if young and short (from ~ 8 cm). The thick stems (photo 3), are strong and when dry can splinter & pierce skin. I’ve also seen Eastern Rosellas and red browed firetail finches eat the seeds. Flowers are small and yellow (photo 2) and form in several bunches along the top part of the flowering stems. Photo 1 shows newly forming flower buds.
