User's notes

A rhinoceros beetle which was a black-brown colour all over. There is a thin lateral line on the lower margin of the plate that the horns emanate from, just discernible in photo 3. The underside is also black-brown, except for an exposed band of red, running left to right, on the rearmost underbelly. That was not visible at the other 2 sightings (4666080 & 4666092). This specimen was dead, so it may have been that part of the shell had broken off or that it was in an unusual posture. The under-thorax was mostly covered in pale yellow hairs,, as was parts of the underbelly. It had some tan colour around the mouth parts.
