Heterotrichia insignis


Sporotheca:- reddish brown becoming yellowish brown, approximately 1.5- 2.5 mm high


Stalk:-  brown, 0.3 mm long.


Hypothallus:- dark brown, common to the cluster


Peridium:- when not fused to neighbour, evanescent above, eventually splitting into lobes leaving a shallow calyculus


Capillitium:- attached at base as a loose net with numerous free ends all bearing spines, rings and half rings and reticulations


Spores:-  palid, globose, minutely roughened some with larger warts particularly noticeable under the use of cotton blue


Substrate:- woody twigs
