Psathyrella candolleana

Psathrella candolleana (Fr.) Maire     Family Psathrellaceae

Basidiomycota - gilled fungus

A species that grows in clumps on woody debris or buried wood in disturbed areas. The pale brown to whitish caps are conical to bell-shaped when young and expand with maturity, with white gills soon darkening to purple-brown. The long stems are slender, dry, white and smooth. The reproductive structure is fragile and falls apart easily on handling.
