Maratus watagansi (Rainforest Peacock Spider)

Population at ANBG is most likely tranlocated from the normal distribution area for the species within the Watagans Ranges National Park, NSW, some 40km West of Newcastle.

Translocation may have occured decades ago with the construction then establishment of the rainforest gully within ANBG. This is indicated by the high population density at this location discovered, observed and recorded by members of CNM in January 2023.
