Xanthorhoe vacuaria (Vacuaria Carpet)

The adult moth of this species has a complex zigzag brown pattern on the wings, including two pale bands with wiggly edges across each forewing. The hindwings each have a similar but faint pattern. All the wings have scalloped edges. The wingspan is about 2.5 cms.
