Parasola megasperma

The fruitbody is a mushroom with a cap atop a central stem. This is one of the small Inkcap mushrooms, of fairly flimsy construction. The caps may reach about 2 cm in diameter, initially somewhat ovoid and later flattening as they expand and becoming radially grooved. Initially they are reddish brown, but become paler as the cap expands. Gills become blackish as the spores mature. The stems are white(ish) and may grow to some centimetres long.

There is neither a partial nor a universal veil.

This species is found in many countries, growing on a variety of dead organic material.
