quotation: "
Distribution and Ecology
Endemic to the wet tropics bio-region NE. Qld,
known only from the Noah Creek area north of the Daintree River, the McDowall Range and the Mt Pieter Botte area.
Altitudinal range from near sea level to 900 m.
Grows as an under-storey plant in well developed, undisturbed lowland and upland rain forest.
";
Was rarely recorded in the Mossman Gorge area, in addition to the above recorded areas.
A herbaria specimen from Mossman Gorge was collected decades ago in 1989 December 4th and lodged in the Brisbane, Qld herbarium: https://avh.ala.org.au/occurrences/663a82de-7752-4ce4-8c0a-640e3a371ee4 .
Since 2014 I have made numerous records of the Mossman Gorge population of numerous trees of this rare species.
While in Mossman Gorge recording this species, sometimes a few field workers from a variety of backgrounds have asserted to me their mis-identification of these plants as Cupaniopsis foveolata which occurs in Mossman Gorge as well. These two species of trees have obvious differences to us specifically–informed field observers, in indumentum, new foliage growth and foliage generally, let alone in the prominently different fertile parts of their flowers and fruits .
