Heterotrichia spp.

The generic name Heterotrichia originally referred to two types of filaments of different diameter and shape occurring within one sporocarp. 

Sporocarps stalked. Spore mass in its fresh state is predominantly shades of yellow, olivaceous, orange or, in some instances, shades of red. 

Peridium rapidly evanescent, leaving the persistent cup at the base of sporocarps.

Capillitium composed of network of elastic tubules, firmly or loosely attached to the cup and/or the apex of the stalk. Capillitium tubules ornamented with reticulum, half-rings, uneven spines or 
combinations thereof.

Spores typically ornamented with minute warts with groups of larger warts.
