Chiasmia assimilis (A geometer moth (Ennomiinae)

Chiasmia assimilis was introduced from southern Africa as a biological control for prickly acacia. The larvae are leaf feeders and can significantly impact the growth of seedlings. Prickly acacia, Acacia nilotica subsp. indica was introduced, from India and Pakastan, as a shade, ornamental and fodder tree. It is now a serious weed, infesting 6.6 million ha in central and western Queensland and declared a Weed of National Significance.
