Pittosporum wingii and P. rubiginosum are both from a narrow rainforest area in northern Queensland and previously have been lumped as one species under the latter name (Cooper 1956).
Pittosporum wingii, reinstated here, differs from the shrubby P. rubiginosum in being a dioecious rainforest tree with possibly versatile anthers and uniseriate hairs.
