Ptyssoptera (genus) (A Gondwanaland moth (Palaephatidae)

Ptyssoptera (genus) is one of seven described genera in the Lepidopteran  superfamily Palaephatoidea in a single family Palaephatidae. These moths are known as Gondwanaland Moths occuring in southern Australia - near Perth in W.A., Adelaide in S.A., Victoria, Hobart in Tasmania and Canberra, A.C.T..  Apart from Australia they are also found in South America and South Africa. These moths, together with a few other groups (e.g. Nepticulidae, Incurvarioidea) are in a parallel group to that of the vast majority of moths.
