Cystiphora schmidti (Chondrilla gall midge)


Family Cecidomyiidae. This insect attacks Skeleton weed (Chondrilla juncea) and is native to the Mediterranean region and south-western Asia. Stocks were imported to Australia and released as a biological control agent after a CSIRO study. See reference:
