Intellagama lesueurii lesueurii (Eastern Water Dragon)
The Eastern Water Dragon (Intellagama lesueurii lesueurii) is large and powerful when fully grown, especially adult males that grow larger than females. This subspecies is distinguished by a bold dark stripe behind the eye, an unmarked throat and mature males have a red chest and belly and broad dark bars across the back and tail. They have a very long tail (twice as long as the body) that is laterally compressed that enables it to swim proficiently through the water, both above and below. Broken tails can be partially regrown, which is rare in dragons, although regenerated tails are without the original banded pattern and not as long.
