steel grey-black, often with pale posterior edge on scales
relatively small eyes
adults have a pink tongue
juveniles have a blue tongue
dark-tipped snout
capable of climbing with relatively long limbs, claws and semi-prehensile tail
dark temporal stripe and pale unmarked throat
red chest and belly on adult males
very long, laterally compressed tail
adult females relatively well camouflaged with little to no red on chest and belly
