Unusual excavation Jodie, possibly by human. Not Rosenberg's Goanna, very unlikely for Tree Goanna, and not really right for Echidna either.

@yomama These are probably from the mound but it is usually hard to be sure. If you send a photo of the mound we can probably make that a record of N. exitiosus because there are only two local mound building species and their constructions are usually distinctive.

Hi Don, thanks for your help with this ID! There was a mound at the end of the old fallen tree right nearby, would it be possible for multiple Nasutitermes species to be in close proximity to one another? I will go back and have a look at the mound over the weekend and report back!
