Phoracantha punctata (Longhorn beetle)

Pronotum rather flat and mostly covered in rather fine granules, with a single small medial raised shiny area, and a few other raised area towards the front and sides. Elytra coarsely punctate in basal 55%, with 2 pairs of yellowish blotches (although each anterior blotch may be broken into 2); surface sculpture much finer in apical 45% of elytra; apex with a pair of small pale blotches.

Phoracantha semipunctata is similar, but the raised shiny areas on the pronotum (particularly a forward pair and a single central one) are distinctly larger. The yellow sub-basal markings on the elytra are usually more extensive (often in the form of a yellow band bisected by a black zigzag marking), and the apical blotches are larger.

Phoracantha punctata is listed in the following regions:

Canberra & Southern Tablelands  |  South Coast
