Protaetia fusca (Mottled flower scarab)

Scarabaeidae. Native to practically all of moist tropical and subtropical Asia through Indonesia to New Guinea and Australia. The larvae (typical scarab 'curl grubs') feed in compost and humus and are of no economic importance, but the actively flying adult beetles feed on foliage, flowers and fruit of a range of plants and can cause damage.
