Demetrida suturata (Arboreal carab beetle)

A medium-sized, elongate, flattened beetle with the finely grooved elytra notably wider than the heart-shaped pronotum. The head and prothorax are reddish but the elytra are very dark, with the suture sometimes paler.

These beetles are nocturnal predators that hide under the bark of eucalypts during the day.
