Sclerocyphon (genus) (Water-penny beetle)

Family Psephenidae

Small, flattened, oval-shaped beetles with the head mostly hidden under the broad pronotum. The upper surface is covered in a carpet of short, prostrate hairs, often in a mottled pattern. They are found on vegetation near streams.

The aquatic larvae are also oval-shaped and very flattened; they cling to rocks in streams, feeding on algae.
