Amasa truncata (Bark beetle)

COLEOPTERA: Curculionidae: Scolytinae: Xyleborini

Bark beetles (Scolytinae) are wood-boring weevils that breed socially, forming colonies - often under the bark of a host tree - in which adults and larvae live together.

Amasa truncata is an eastern Australian forest species whose host plants are various trees in the Myrtaceae. The larvae feed on fungi in the tunnels.
