COLEOPTERA: Curculionoidea: Attelabidae: Rhynchitinae
The genus has more than 50 species in Australia, but nothing is known of their life history here. However, Rhynchitinae in other parts of the world have been observed to oviposit in leaves or buds, in which they cut lesions causing them to wither or drop. This may have evolved as a tactic to allow the developing larvae to avoid the chemical defences of a live plant.
