Papyrius sp. (genus) (A Coconut Ant)

There are atleast two species of Papyrius  in the ACT region and they look and smell very similar.  The Hairy Coconut Ant (an undescribed species) is slightly larger and darker than the Shining Cocomut Ant (P. nitidus) and records suggest that it does not produce areas covered in carton, but will still accumulate loose areas of particles to block holes or cracks. A close up of the ant will help with ID.
