Stibaroma melanotoxa (Grey-caped Line-moth)

There are a number of Stibaroma species, both described and undescribed.  Stibaroma melanotoxa and one of the undescribed ones are the species regularly seen in the ACT. (Stibaroma aphronesa is recored regularly west of the ACT.)  Stibaroma melanotoxa often has a cream overlay on the thorax and base of the forewing. The undescribed species does not. Some females of Sibaroma melanotoxa show little more forewing pattern than the two main transverse lines.

In the undescribed species.the three black transverse lines on the forewing are generally stronger and the outer one has a more acute and deeper outward angle.   It also has a short dark line at the base of the forewing, a feature that Moths of Victoria uses to indicate its Stibaroma sp1.

Stibaroma melanotoxa is listed in the following regions:

Canberra & Southern Tablelands
