Often seen during the day, resting on sedge or grass-tree leaves
Description based on Meyrick (1904) Proc.Linn.Soc.NSW. 29:306.
- body length 10-12mm (related species D. cataphanes is longer 15-17mm)
- long, lamellar, yellow scales curving over the frons
- labial palpi recurved, with apical segment slender and acute and coloured pale yellow, 2nd segment thickened with smooth, dark brown scales
- antennae dark brown, ringed with pale yellow
- legs dark brown, ringed with yellowish hairs
- forewings pale yellow with three transverse dark brown stripes. The first is basal and encloses a yellow basal dot; the second begins halfway along length of wing and is connected to the first by a slender costal streak; the third is terminal and broader than in D. cataphanes, leaving only a narrow strip of yellow between it and the second stripe.
