Hylacola pyrrhopygia (Chestnut-rumped Heathwren)

A small terrestrial scrubwren-like bird, the Chestnut-rumped Heathwren occurs singly or in pairs.  The species is usually shy, secretive and silent, except during the breeding season, when males sing persistently from a perch atop a small shrub or a low branch in a tree, just above the level of dense undergrowth.
