Nice find, Stu. I wouldn't have expected to see it here. But you seem to be the anointed Banksia beetle whisperer!

Ironically Roger, I have been actively looking for the buprestid Temognatha goryi for some years now, with no luck. It shares similar shape and colouration of it's elytra. Do you think ANIC would want a specimen? If not, I am passing through same area on Tues and will return it....

Lack of antenna scape eliminates most weevils. Bulbous hind femora (not for leaping like flea beetles) assigns it to the sub family Sagrinae, that contains some bizarre looking species from SE Asia. A good find as I have looked for it on Banksias for years for my book. The larvae are stem borers presumably on Banksias. Carpophagy = feeding on fruits and seeds - not sure about this.
