Pterohelaeus planus (Pie dish beetle)

Tenebrionidae: Tenebrioninae: Heleini

Rather flattened (planus, Latin for 'flat'), with moderately wide flanges on the elytra. It has a bluish colour caused by a whitish 'pruinose' waxy coating, although this can wear off leaving the colour almost black.

Quite common under the flaking bark of eucalypts.
